I have always been a fan of white tea and never really had the pleasure to experience some organic white tea. I decided to give the Rishi brand a shot.
I was pleasantly surprised when i popped open the nice looking tin it was in.My nostrils were bombarded with the smell of FRESH white tea leaves. As i touched the leaves i noticed that they were indeed very fresh and not dry at all. This made me very excited, so i decided to give this tea a taste.
The back of the tin recommend steeping the tea for about 4-6 minutes in a water temperature that is slightly below boiling. I did just that and noticed the leaves turned from a brownish color into a vibrant green as they steeped. I separated the leaves from the tea because it obviously wouldn't be fun sipping on tea and getting a mouth full of leaves in the process.
I take a nice whiff of the tea and it has a nice herbal/fruity aroma. I finally give the tea a sip and i am instantly impressed by the rich, yet subtle flavor. Previous white teas i have tried always had a slightly strong flavor and aftertaste to them. This wasn't the case with Rishi! The tea has a gentle flavor and a pleasant aftertaste. The flavor is in fact so gentle that i would recommend not eating or drinking anything with a strong flavor... For example: garlic, salami, fish, etc..
The effects of the tea were nice as well. A gentle calming sensation and a feeling as if everything would be ok. The tea can be steeped numerous times and i usually steep it at least 4 times before discarding it.That is very convenient because you can get more bang for your buck. Roughly 1 tablespoon of loose leaves makes four 8oz servings of tea.
Overall, i give this tea a 9 out of 10. It is just excellent in all aspects! I definitely recommend trying it if you are a fan of white tea!
Take care,
